Body Composition Assessment

What's involved?

The actual scan procedure is painless, can be performed without removing any clothing and takes only a few minutes.

The assessment is performed as follows:

  • You will be asked to confirm you have followed all pre-test requirements, as explained in an email in the days leading up to the test. Failing to adhere to these requirements will result in an inaccurate analysis.

  • You will be asked to lie down in a supine position (on your back) for at least 5 minutes before the test. This is to let the fluid levels in the body “settle.”

  • During this time, your blood pressure will be taken and you’ll be asked questions about your nutritional and physical lifestyle.

  • To perform the assessment, electrodes (sticky, plaster-like pads) will be attached to the back of your hand and top of your foot.

  • When ready the analysis will begin. A very small (and safe) current will pass between the electrodes in your hand and foot. You will not feel a thing.

  • The actual body composition analysis takes a matter of seconds.

What’s next?

Following your assessment, you will be a given a print out, with a summary of your results.

This print out will only give you an overview of some of the results, but it’s something for you to take home and keep until the full analysis is emailed to you the following day.

The following day, we will email you a detailed report with all your results and suggest a retest in 2-3 months time, so you can track the progress of your health, fitness or nutritional programme.
